Build, Baby, Build: Share the Data Center Joy!
Hysteria swept through the Grundy household this week when the Five-County Board of County Supervisors proposed building a large data center adjacent to Grundy Farm.
The Miss Grundys immediately took to social media to declare an impending apocalypse. Mrs. Grundy did not point out the irony of using the internet as their first line of defense, since she would soon disappoint her daughters to the core of their being.
To wit, Mrs. Grundy agrees: Build, baby, build! And build in dozens of creative locations, locations, locations!
Why limit these electronic hubs of growth and opportunity to the bucolic countryside or an isolated field? Data centers belong everywhere!
They belong on the waterfront of Indian Creek Village, among the billionaires of Biscayne Bay, Florida.
Data centers belong among the mansions of Atherton, California and Greenwich, Connecticut. Do zoning laws require windows? Pshaw! Concrete tilt-ups are sturdy, efficient and quick.
Mrs. Grundy envisions pre-fab aluminum data centers along San Francisco’s Gold Coast and New York’s Upper East Side. Just imagine the soft glow of the sunlight’s reflection on the silvery exterior walls.
Mrs. Grundy Thinks the Mullets reaping wealth and prestige from the artificial intelligence revolution must stop being so selfless. They must insist on sharing the joy of their rural neighbors, and welcome the dull, low hum of a nearby data warehouse. Surely, there is no better sound to assure these Mullets that they are changing the world for the better.
As a community leader and noted problem solver (see Mar-a-Lego: To Build and Gild), Mrs. Grundy knows her considered opinion will greatly influence the Five-County Board’s decision.
Thusly, as she more thoroughly considers the proposal, she will weigh the question: Does not the arduous, yet joyful, quest for a virtuous life require all for one, and one for all? Indeed.
