The Special K’s . . .

Mrs. Grundy offers a vigorous defense of three women recently, and most unjustly, vilified by Media Mullets and philistines.

She starts with the unfortunate case of the Greek ambassador who irritated someone with Wall Street Journal reporters on speed dial. Others might suggest the Journal’s source was the new wife of the ambassador’s former fiancé, the avaricious scion of the Presidential Mullet, or the scion himself. Others might suggest this, but Mrs. Grundy would not.

In any event, the ambassador was a fervent advocate for Greek-American relations; but, she was no Athena. To wit, she allegedly sought gifts from Greeks. If only, like the rest of the Presidential Mullet’s family, she had solicited Russian oligarchs and Middle Eastern sovereign wealth funds, these allegations would have been dismissed as fake news.

And, in perfect candor, Mrs. Grundy envies the ambassador her personal stylist named “Fancy.” Farmer Grundy considers himself a stylist, of sorts, as he often tells The Miss Grundys, “You are not leaving this house wearing THAT!”

Mrs. Grundy turns next to the vexing case of the wealthy celebrity victimized by rapacious small business owners. These mercenaries refused to sell the celebrity what she wanted, when she wanted it, and may (or may not) have criticized her casual attire. Mrs. Grundy Thinks this quarrel would be easily settled if the celebrity retained the services of Fancy, the former ambassador’s stylist.

Finally, she was frustrated by the fleeting case of the press secretary who claimed to be a lawyer, but was not a lawyer, yet was employed in China as if a lawyer. The last time Mrs. Grundy checked, China was a COMMUNIST country and not an ally.

Mrs. Grundy Thinks Media Mullets overlooked this intriguing detail. Perhaps the press secretary story was more John LeCarre than John Grisham. But we will never know, now, will we? Indeed.
